GECRC 20th Anniversary 2021-2022

Help us commemorate, congratulate, and celebrate 20 years of GECRC’s growth and impact throughout our Anniversary Year! Over the years, GECRC students were supported academically and socially by dedicated volunteer tutors, GECRC staff, and local community partners. GECRC is committed to providing the academic and social support our students have come to rely on for 20 years into the next 20 years. We couldn’t do it without the support of our volunteers, generous community members, local businesses and community organizations.

GECRC Family Fun Day: June 11

GECRC’s amazing community of students, families, volunteers, board members and staff all enjoyed the GECRC Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 11 in celebration of GECRC’s 20th anniversary. About 100 individuals were in attendance to enjoy face-painting, snow cones, games, a raffle and more at Churchill Elementary.  An enormous thank you to the countless individuals and organizations that made this day possible. A special thank you to the Glen Ellyn Lions Club for donating the pizza lunch for the event!

“I was excited to celebrate GECRC's growth alongside our students and their families, the most important members of our organization's structure,” said GECRC volunteer coordinator Maryam Ghouse. “There were smiles everywhere, parents and children alike got to have fun, and by my standards, that made it a successful event!”

Annual Literary Event Fundraiser: Sept. 9

Literary Event Committee Chair: Janis Pfister, GECRC Board Member

Be part of a community movement:

  • impacting the lives of more than 1000 students
  • growing from a 1-room program in a single school district to a 4-school program, including a high school tutoring group, and a six week summer program engaging students in three school districts
  • whose track-record for success launched a burgeoning scholarship program supporting 5 college-bound alumni and tutors in the past 3 years
