GECRC is excited to welcome acclaimed author Courtney Maum to our Annual Literary Event Fundraiser, and invite you to join us at this year’s celebration of literacy! Each year, important funds are raised in support of our after-school and summer programming, and this year we are thrilled that a portion of the proceeds will directly support program expansion into Glen Ellyn Community Consolidated School District 89 and the development of an after-school literacy program at Glen Crest Middle School.
Courtney will be sharing her work Costalegre, A GOOP Book Club selection, and a favorite of Entertainment Weekly, Time Magazine, The Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Heavily inspired by the real-life relationship between Peggy Guggenheim and her daughter, Pegeen, it is the touching story of a privileged teenager who has everything a girl could wish for except for a mother who loves her back. Courtney is also the author of I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You, Touch, and the handbook Before and After the Book Deal: A writer’s guide to finishing, publishing, promoting, and surviving your first book.
Tickets are $60 in advance and $65 at the door, and include one drink and appetizers.
Evening includes raffle and silent auction.
The event is held in partnership with The Bookstore of Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Public Library, and with the support of generous sponsors, Kiwanis Glen Ellyn, Glen Ellyn Bank and Trust, Marcel’s, Marche, and Maison.
